Kalida Local Schools will be moving to REMOTE LEARNING DAYS when school is closed for inclement weather for the remainder of the 2020-2021 school year. A letter has been provided to each family from the elementary, middle school and high school administration informing students and parents of this change.

Students in K-2 will have Blizzard Bags sent home. These kits will include lessons and activities the student should complete on a cancellation day. Students may be asked to complete basic online activities as well on these days. Instructions will be found in each grade’s Blizzard Bag.

Students in Grades 3-4 will engage in remote learning through Schoology. Teachers will update lessons by 10:00 for students to work on. Teachers will be available to answer questions by email or Schoology messages during school hours on a cancellation day. Assignments are expected to be turned in the next day students return to school.

Students in Grades 5-8 will also work remotely through Schoology lessons posted by teachers by 10:30 am. This allows teachers plenty of time to update and post any information /assignments for students, since cancellations often follow initial two hour delays. Most work will be reinforcement material of lessons already discussed, as we are aware some students may not have devices at home.

High school students will also work remotely through Schoology lessons posted by 10:30 am. Since all 9-12 students have iPads, they will work remotely through Schoology lessons posted by 10:30 am similar to instruction that takes place during in person lessons. Again, teachers are available for remote teaching/learning to answer questions until 3:05 on those days.

Grade 5-12 students are expected to check Schoology and complete assignments on these days. They are expected to reach out to teachers if they have any questions. They are expected to let us know if they are having technical issues which may prohibit them from completing work. If they have jobs, they are not to be working during school hours.
